Fall Golfing At The Humber Valley Resort River Course

by GK on October 4, 2009

On Friday, I had the opportunity to golf on the River Course the Humber Valley Resort.

The course is in great shape.

My score was brutal but I really enjoyed myself a great deal. Golf with an awesome friend in the fall in the Humber Valley – what could be better?

Fall Golf Rates

I had the opportunity to speak with Gary Oke at the golf course.

Gary tells me they had a great year.

The fall golf rates start on Monday, October 05, so you can get a full round of 18 in for $55. This includes a golf cart.

This is a great deal for a course like this.

I’m not getting paid or compensated in any way for writing or talking about the golf course at the Humber Valley Resort. I just think the resort is a wonderfull place that highlights some of the beautiful things we have available to us here on the West Coast of Newfoundland.

I’ve said it before but the Humber Valley Resort offers some spectacular golf. I’ve had the good fortune to golf at some very nice places, and I would say the golf here is as good as any other course you will play on.

Drive Up To The 19th Hole

Here is a video of the drive up from the 18th hole back to the pro shop. The audio is a little dicey but you can get the idea.

It takes about two minutes to make the drive in a golf cart. I’ve walked this path many times. Usually I stop a couple of times to give myself CPR.

Hole #10 At Humber Valley

Humber Valley Resort Golf
Many have said that the number 10 hole at the Humber Valley Golf Course, is amongst the most beautiful golf holes in Canada.

I couldn’t agree more.

The view of the Humber Valley looking West down towards Marble Mountain is just beautiful. I think it is a great thing that Gary Oke and his team have done such a wonderful job on the course this year. I hope Gary and the crew can make it back next year.

Two Buddies Having A Good Time

It was great to get out on Friday and have a great round of golf with my friend. We had a couple of beers, something to eat and a couple of cigars. Life really couldn’t get any better.

Here is a video of us just fooling around during the day. Unlike me, my buddy has an elegant swing. When I swing the golf club, I look like I’m a Tasmanian devil having a seizure. If I miss the ball I almost corkscrew myself into the ground. Proof positive that you don’t have to be good at golf to enjoy it.

You can see some of the other pictures here.

I come out to the Rock this Wednesday, just in time for the reduced green fees! Result!
Will definitely play at that rate.

BTW Was it cold Gary? You looked well wrapped up?

It was a chilly day for sure Cliff… the wind was from the East. The first couple of holes were a little cold but we soon got into it. Bring a windbreaker for sure. Hope you enjoy yourself here.
