Corner Brook seems to be vibrating with the ECMA’s (East Coast Music Awards) here in town this weekend.
I dropped down to the Crown & Moose Pub earlier this morning where the CBC’s Angela Antle was doing her regular radio show – The Weekend Arts Magazine.
While I was there, Angela Antle was interviewing Damhnait Doyle.
My two kids thought it was very cool that we could listen to the radio and walk downtown to see the where the “radio” was coming from.
In this picture Angela Antle takes a quick break to talk to a couple of people listening to the live broadcast of the Weekend Arts Magazine.

Bay Of Islands Radio
Bay Of Islands Radio is being run by Ivan Emke who is a professor of Social / Cultural Studies at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College.
I had a very brief conversation with Emke and he tells me that Bay Of Islands Radio is community run and has been on the air for three years. I’m hoping to learn more about Bay Of Islands Radio and post about it shortly.
Bay Of Islands Radio was broadcasting live from the lobby of the Greenwood Inn & Suites over the weekend – covering the East Coast Music Awards.
One of the cool things about the weekend radio broadcast was the fact that it was “people powered.” They had a stationary bike set up in the lobby of the hotel and had people peddling to produce the electricity so they could do the show.
In this picture Peter Ollerhead, the owner of Cycle Solutions / Brewed Awakening in Corner Brook was taking his turn on the stationary bike.
I'm a dad, raconteur, scallywag and drinker of strong black coffee.
