Compared to Google – Does Yahoo, MSN Or Ask Even Count In The Search Engine Game

by GK on January 14, 2008

google-sign.jpgAccording to Hitwise, Google’s share of US searches averaged 64% in 2007.

So that means almost two thirds of all internet and web searches done in the United States in 2007 were done on Google.

It’s been so long since I have done a search on Yahoo or MSN I can’t even remember. Honestly, I had even forgotten about Ask.

During the December 2007 time period, the actual numbers are:

1. Google – 65.98%
2. Yahoo – 20.88%
3. MSN – 7.04%
4. Ask – 4.4%

This raises a very important question – Does Yahoo, MSN or Ask even really count in the search engine world?

Can you find something on either one of these search engines that you cannot find on Google?

Hi Gary,
I’m subscribed to your feed and the last couple of days it’s been odd. It just shows a feed saying it’s a feed bulletin for Gary Kelly. I was using bloglines, so I then tried addding to my google reader with the subscription option through feedburner and that didn’t work either. Not sure if it’s coincidence but you might want to check it out.
